I started Eco Calypte to encourage my Tri-cities neighbours to embrace zero waste living and to reduce our ecological footprint as a community.
My journey to sustainable living started when I was a child. Little did I know that when I planted my first veggie garden in my parents’ backyard, I was also planting my love for nature in my heart! My love for nature has naturally translated into a lifestyle centred around reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and our oceans. Whether I am planting vegetables in my garden, bringing reusable bags to the grocery store, or giving advice to my loved ones I am always trying my best to reduce my own ecological footprint.
Prior to starting Eco Calypte, I spent 30 years as an engineer in the high tech industry, with the second half of my career focused on renewable energies. With Eco Calypte, I want to take a more active stance for sustainable living and support others in doing the same.
I hope that I can encourage you to do the same!
Like anything worth doing the first step towards zero waste is always the most challenging - making incremental changes is the best way to tackle this! You can start by making a few small changes such as opting to not use disposable produce bags at the grocery store, or bringing your own water bottle when you go out. Once these changes become second nature you can gradually make more changes to your everyday habits.
Along the way, don’t forget to remind yourself that every action you take makes a difference.
We're in this together, let's continue to look for new ways to live a zero waste lifestyle!
